Career Path: Development Engineering, AGV
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

I was employed whilst still a student. I wrote my dissertation for this company and they sponsored me under the skilled worker Visa. I am progressing from Engineering to Project Management very quickly.

What are you doing now?

I work as a Robotics Development Engineer. I do project management and production planning. This is very relevant to what I studied at Northumbria.

How connected was your course with industry?

It was indeed connected with industry theoretically. All the projects we did were an example from the real world. However, I got lucky to get a placement on my second semester. This enabled me to apply theory to the real world industry while still studying.

If you took on a placement during your course how did you feel this helped you in your career/ with your studies?

I was lucky to find a company that supported me financially to write my thesis. My thesis research included confidential data from 4 global companies around the UK. I was thankful to get the information I required that enabled me to achieve a very good mark.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

It prepares you for the real world. I earned confidence and motivation to solve real industry problems.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

You won't regret it. I suggest to not study at home but take advantage of the sophisticated library. Study at the library even 12 hours per day. I saw students waking up in the library! Learn how to use EndNote software as soon as you start studying. Don’t miss the Student Union's Habita.
