Jamie is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, and works as part of the Northumbria Social Computing (NorSC) research group. After completing his PhD at Northumbria University, Jamie worked as a Research Fellow on the Horizon 2020 funded 鈥樷€ project, which considered how Europe and the EU are seen by those who have immigrated or intend to do so. This included considering and analysing the flows of information and narratives online through social media and mainstream media. Prior to this, Jamie worked alongside industry partners, developing and implementing social media analyses for a range of clients, primarily within the retail and fashion industries.
Jamie鈥檚 research centres around the role of social media in society, and how we can understand behaviour at the individual and group level. Jamie has also published on the ethical considerations of conducting research in these contexts.
