Changes to NHS Student Bursaries

Applicants for our Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Operating Department Practice courses may be aware of the Government’s recent announcement to change the way they are funded.

If you are applying to study these subjects during the 2016/17 academic year you will not be affected and you will receive the existing NHS Student Bursary.

If you are looking to apply for courses beginning in 2017 you will be required to take out a loan like other students, rather than receiving a bursary.

Northumbria University is currently working to assess this change to funding for 2017/18 applicants on our scholarships and bursaries package. We will publish details on our website when this becomes clearer.

If you require further information on these changes, you may find this information on the useful. The Council is the voice of UK universities offering courses in nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions.
